In addition to the hunt for cod, perhaps you can be tempted by a duel with the coalfish, a meeting with the wolffish face to face, or for the really bold, the hunt for a giant Halibut?

AUTUMN
Autumn heralds the changing of colour on the island. Green shifting to yellow then red and migratory birds depart for warmer climes - the hectic summer season is over.

Autumn is hunting season. With well stocked reserves of both grouse and hare, Sørøya is a paradise for small game hunters.

For deep sea fishermen, this is the season to catch a really big halibut. With the right equipment, a guide and fresh "Kveithaill", the possibilities are excellent.

WINTER
The weather in winter shifts rapidly and is often unpredictable. Blizzard conditions can change to calm in minutes, with colourful northern lights dancing across a starry sky.The two months without sunlight can be a fascinating experience.

When the sun comes back over the horizon and the days become longer, teeming throngs of cod come in from the Barents Sea. Visiting fisherme, together with the home fleet, create a flurry of activity on the fjord and in the deep sea fishing grounds. For the really tough deep sea fisherman, winter fishing can be the ultimate experience!

SPRING
One day the sun shines, the next day it is snow. Regardless of the weather, fishing is excellent! Many of the biggest fish are caught in the spring, when the cod hunts capelins along the coast.

We don`t really have spring on Sørøya - the seasons switch directly from winter to summer. Suddenly, you will notice that the air has changed - the light, intense summer has begun!
